Land clearing, Fair Oaks Ranch
Clearing a Fair Oaks Ranch lot
Fair Oaks Ranch was the Ralph Fair ranch before it became a city in 1988, and it still feels like it: big lots, live oaks and cedar, and Cibolo Creek running through (Wikipedia).
Clearing a lot here is careful work. The oaks stay, the cedar and underbrush come out around them, and the house site and drive are opened up without scraping the lot bare.

Local detail
What changes in Fair Oaks Ranch
Which county are you in?
The city spans Bexar, Comal and Kendall counties (Wikipedia). TCEQ's Edwards Aquifer rules cover Bexar and Comal, not Kendall (TCEQ RG-11). On a regulated zone in Bexar or Comal, clearing that disturbs soil can need an approved plan first, while clearing without soil disturbance is an exclusion (30 TAC 213.3).
City rules first
Fair Oaks Ranch is an incorporated city, so check with the city about tree and clearing rules before work starts. TCEQ's general rules also keep brush burning outside city limits unless a city allows it (AgriLife).
Oak-safe clearing
No wounds from February through June, paint on every wound, and machines kept off the root zones of the keepers (Texas A&M Forest Service, Identify and Manage Oak Wilt).
Ready for the build
Once the lot is open, the pad and drive can follow on the same schedule. See building pads.
Questions
Land clearing questions: Fair Oaks Ranch
Which aquifer rules apply to my Fair Oaks Ranch lot?
It depends on the county. TCEQ's Edwards rules cover the Bexar and Comal parts of the city, not the Kendall part.
Can brush be burned in Fair Oaks Ranch?
Inside city limits, burning needs the city's OK under TCEQ's general rules. Most lot clearing here ends with the brush hauled.
Can you keep every oak?
We work around every oak you want kept. Where one sits in the way of the house or drive, we talk it through with you first.
